It is a shared space. You rent a small room that is adjacent to all other rooms with only shared bathrooms. Exactly like renting a room in a house. It was very clean and well kept but I was very disappointed at the misleading information. I was expecting a typical motel/hotel setup and wish I had known this floor plan before spending hard earned money for a system that I already have to live in everyday. The WI-FI was horrible (which was mentioned to us) but made it that much harder to locate a different lodging option. My point is do your research because it will not be made clear until it is too late.

My mother and I stayed at the Buffalo Run Inn in room 3. The room is misleading - the site lists that it should have a kitchenette, but when we arrived, we found that it only had a sink, some counter space, a mini fridge, and a microwave. No stove, no toaster, nothing like that. Also, the sink had dish soap and a drainer, but nothing to clean the dishes with? Unusual. Also a lie! Most hotels have microwaves and fridges, but no one calls those "kitchenettes." But the worst was yet to come. We planned to stay for two nights but upon arriving we had to change our plans unexpectedly and leave after the first night. When my mother called to cancel, the owner hung up on her! Then, upon seeing that she had been charged for both nights after canceling the second night, she called back and was told that there is a 48-hour cancellation policy. I know that this place isn't a normal hotel, but even small businesses have a 24-hour cancellation policy. After my mother protested, the owner told her that she could put her complaints in a tube and stick it you-know-where. No, I am not joking. Who does that? This man is in the hospitality industry! He must be really confused about what that word means! This is not a person who should be running an inn. Actually, I felt kind of bad for them, because we noticed their restaurant was for sale, so they must be doing badly and need the money, but I'll be happy when they no longer have the inn and can't abuse their customers the way they do. For people who are in disbelief about the owner's rudeness, I suggest you check out his replies to reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp - very scary way to treat other people.

Clean, spacious and comfortable room with a huge king-size bed, kitchenette and a good bathroom (we stayed at room 5, bear themed room). We appreciated the room being quite and the possibility to keep the sunlight out in the early morning! Friendly staff. Wifi is not very reliable, we couldn't connect to the internet most of the time, but the owner said he wants to improve this in the near future. Given the remote location of this place (ideally located to discover the also pretty remotely located North Cascades National Park), it would have been handy to be able to check in after 9 pm. It was kind of a rush to get here in time on our first night! All in all we recommend this place, we would stay here again in the future.

Very interesting. The website is not very clear as to the setup so here's some clarification:

Pros: location and rooms were clean. Cons: if you need customer service or if something is wrong with the room, good luck getting them to do anything. We knew customer service was not that great based on reviews and responses on TripAdvisor, but we tried it anyways and hoped we would have no issues with the room. Check-in was fine and the lady was nice. Note though that check-in is actually at Buffalo Run Restaurant which is across the street. Room looked clean and there were no bugs upon inspection. We go on our hike and come back pretty late like 11pm. We honestly didn't need much, we just wanted a clean bed and working shower. We were unlucky and ended up with a shower that did not drain. We called the owners, and a lady picked up. We knew it was late so we were thankful that she answered the phone. While speaking with her, it steadily went downhill. In summary, she could not move us to another room, would not comp the room (basically say we could get a refund if we left at this time in the night.... Really??), and sent her husband to our room to see what he could do. Honestly I would have been happy with a slight discount for the inconvenience. She said she was a women and doesn't know how to fix a clogged drain and for us to shower tomorrow morning. If I were not covered in sunscreen, bug spray, and dirt from a long hike, sure, not a problem. She did say that she does get complaints of clogged drain several time a year, so as an owner of a business, it is your responsibility to either know or have a solution/backup plan. She then hung up on us while we were mid-sentence. The husband came over, which I was grateful for especially at this time of night. But that's about it, as it goes downhill from there too. He proceeds to use a toilet plunger on the drain!! How unsanitary!! Fine, I'll let it pass, even though that is completely disgusting and won't fix the issue. He gets it to barely drain and says there, it's draining. The amount it was draining, we would only be able to have a trickle, not only that, I was sure it would clog up once we started showering. So he says to shower with lower pressure, sure that would be fine if their shower faucet allowed that. It's a single knob for pressure and temperature. So to get hot water, you have to blast the pressure, I guess they didn't know that... He then says what's wrong with showering in standing water? Who the heck enjoys showering in standing water?!? Contaminated-toilet-plunger-standing water?!? Not only that, it doesn't drain, so it would fill the tub and overflow. He then walks off and slams the door behind him when telling him that. So we attempt to shower, and sure enough it clogged again almost immediately. So for the sake of being clean from sweat, dirt, sunscreen, and bug spray, I take apart the stopper and pull out some gunk enough so that we could shower. I don't know how many times I washed my hands that night with soap... I should charge them for cleaning out their drain the proper way. My wife was so unhappy with the service that she will probably take it up with our credit card company. This will be the first time we've ever had to bring up an issue with our credit card. In short, clean room and good location, but terrible service if something comes up. If you book this place, pray that you have no problems or issues with the room.

Terrible experience. The check in was extremely slow. The owner was very rude and told my husband to shut up when asking a question of where our room was. Our friends credit card was declined twice when nothing was wrong with it. The owners husband even emailed our friend and complained about how we treated the staff. We did nothing but ask a couple of questions. Avoid these owners. On the other hand our experience at Mondo' s was wonderful.
